The Importance of a Good Inventory & Appraisal
On a daily basis we are requested by local professionals to prepare an Inventory and Appraisal for General Household Contents as well as Fine Art, Antiques and Collectibles for their clients. Realtors are negotiating a home sale and many home buyers today are requesting the house to contain the contents so an inventory and appraisal is necessary. Guardians on behalf of their Wards must present their Personal Inventory to the courts. Attorneys are required to submit household contents for bankruptcy cases. Divorce cases require appraisals for marital distribution.
For Estate Planners we cannot emphasize enough the IMPORTANCE of an Inventory and Appraisal while their clients are alive and well to include receipts, past appraisals, family history and provenance. Time and time again this vital information gets lost in the translation through Power of Attorneys, Personal Representatives, Heirs and Executors or even the clients themselves in cases of senility and Alzheimer. Attendees will receive pertinent information and check lists in order to best advise their clients.
