Workshop on Medicaid and VA Benefit Planning
The Asset Protection & Estate Planning Law Firm was founded by Scott A. Selis, Esquire. Scott began his practice in 1989 as a litigator representing insurance companies and large self-insured employers in workers’ compensation matters. In 2004, Scott decided that he would rather help people than argue with them and later decided to focus his practice on elder law to help people protect their life’s savings. After completing several courses, Scott was certified by Medicaid Practice Systems to teach Medicaid Planning in 2006. Scott uses the skills he attained as a litigator to create customized and creative plans that are designed to meet his client’s needs. Scott is also involved in the community. Scott is a former City Commissioner of Ormond Beach, and serves on a 21 member advisory panel to improve Medicaid Services to Disabled Adults and the Elderly. Scott was appointed to this committee by the Secretary of the Department of Children & Families, George Sheldon, whose department is responsible for processing all Medicaid Applications. Scott also serves on the Board of Directors for The Center for the Visually Impaired. Scott is a graduate of Florida State University and Stetson University's College of Law. Scott has been married to Kimberly for 26 years and they have had 3 children, ages 23, 19, and 12.
