You are cordially invited to the Estate Planning Council of the Fun Coast’s June presentation.
Topic: Probate and Guardianship: Understanding the process of Probate and how Guardianship relates to Estate Planning. We are honored to have both Judge Hudson and Judge Totten as our speakers. We will also touch on what may change with the addition of Electronic Wills, how the Probate and Guardianship process has changed with COVID-19 and a review of upcoming legislature that may impact Estate Planning in the future. This meeting is open to the public.
Speakers: Judge Margaret W. Hudson and Judge Andrea Totten
Circuit Judge Margaret W. Hudson was appointed to the bench in 2006. She earned an undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and a juris doctor from the University of Florida. Before becoming a judge, she worked for the U.S. Department of Justice, United States Trustee’s Office in Orlando. She was also in private practice. Judge Hudson has heard criminal, civil, juvenile dependency and dependency drug court cases. She currently presides over probate and guardianship cases at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand and at the Volusia County Courthouse Annex at City Island in Daytona Beach.
Flagler County Court Judge Andrea K. Totten was appointed to the bench in 2019. Prior to becoming a judge, she served as an Assistant Attorney General, an Assistant State Attorney, and a Law Clerk. She received her bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and her law degree from The University of Toledo. She was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2005. She presides at the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center in Bunnell and hears civil cases.
